Halsey Beshears, the secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation announced on Friday via tweet that the State of Florida will be suspending the drinking of alcohol at bars, effective immediately.

The suspension was announced as Florida has had a week of record-breaking coronavirus cases and days after Governor Ron DeSantis warned bars and nightclubs that he would pull the liquor licenses of any establishments not following the state’s re-opening guidlines.
