Artificial intelligence romantic companion apps like Replika, Intimate: A.I. Girlfriend, and Anima are becoming more popular than most people may think, particularly among young adults. A survey of 3000 Americans found almost 1 in 5 adults (19%) say they’ve chatted with an A.I. system meant to simulate a romantic partner.
