A Friend Flying Out Of LAX Yesterday Sent Me Some Pics Of All The Fires And Smoke In Cali

LA Fires (Ethan Dometrius)

I have a close friend that lives in LA and they sent me some pics of the smoke and fires that are currently burning across the Hollywood Hills, and much of the northern LA area. They were flying out of LAX, which is just south of where the fires are spreading.

When they dropped off their rental car they saw what looked like snow, but it was ash floating down from the sky:

Here’s some of the smoke in the sky. What looks like clouds is actually the smoke from earlier that has risen up into the atmosphere.

Here’s the smoke coming from one of the fires in the hills. You can see it billowing from the ground and spreading over the city.

And in this pic I was able to zoom in so you can actually see the flames. Those white things around the fire are homes. The flames are probably 30-40 feet high since this was taken from over 10 miles away.

And here’s Sofi Stadium where the Rams and Chargers play, and the famous Lakers Forum to the left, both covered in smoke. That’s not the normal LA smog, that’s smoke from the fires.
