One of the things I thought was really cool when I first moved to Florida was how many major league baseball teams have spring training here. In fact both the Florida Marlins and the Tampa Bay Rays also practice spring training here, but at different Florida locations than where they play, for some reason. Florida has been home to spring training since the very beginnings of baseball in America. Tampa holds possibly the oldest record having been home to the Chicago Cubs from over 100 years ago, 1913 until 1916. But all across central Florida you can catch games in the Grapefruit League, as the pros jump around the state warming up for their season.
The Atlanta Braves practice in Venice.
The Baltimore Orioles practice in Sarasota.
The Boston Red Sox practice in Fort Myers.
The Detroit Tigers practice in Lakeland.
The Houston Astros practice in West Palm Beach
The Miami Marlins practice in Jupiter.
The Minnesota Twins practice in Fort Myers.
The New York Mets practice in Port St. Lucie.
The New York Yankees practice in Tampa.
The Philadelphia Phillies practice in Clearwater.
The Pittsburgh Pirates practice in Bradenton.
The St. Louis Cardinals practice in Jupiter.
The Tampa Bay Rays practice in Port Charlotte.
The Toronto Blue Jays practice in Dunedin.
The Washington Nationals practice in West Palm Beach.
