Phil Collins Says His Pain Is So Bad He Can’t Hold A Drum Stick Anymore, But His Son Will Fill In.

Genesis Announces The "Turn It On Again Tour" TORONTO, ON - SEPTEMBER 05: (L-R) Musicians Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins and Tony Banks pose before talking about their band Genesis during a press conference before the dress rehearsal of the 20 city North American leg of their "Turn It On Again" tour at the Air Canada Centre on September 5, 2007 in Toronto, Canada. In a recent interview with BBC Breakfast, Phil, Mike, and Tony sat down to talk about their upcoming The Last Domino Tour, and other things. Sadly, during the interview, Phil was asked if would be playing drums during any of the shows and he revealed that his condition has gotten so bad that he can barely even hold a stick with his hand anymore. He’s in poor health and doesn’t look like there will be any improvement in the future. Which is also probably a big reason why the band has said that this tour is essentially putting the band to bed. Genesis will be no more after this final run.

Phil’s son Nic will be playing drums for all of the shows which is both cool and a little sad since Phil won’t be able to play along with his son on stage at all. But at least they’ll be performing together.

Check out the interview with Genesis here from the BBC.

Here are the tour dates for the first leg of the tour. They haven’t announced that there will be a 2nd leg necessarily, but with as many American cities are NOT on this list, I’m assuming they’ll announce one soon.
