In what would be one of Randy Rhoads last sound checks ever we can see him absolutely shredding just doing warmups. Randy was on Ozzy’s Diary Of A Madman tour from 1981-82. This video is from Beaumont, Texas in February 1982. The video says it was shot on the 16th, but the internet says the Beaumont show was either the 15th or the 17th...thanks internet. (Seriously Wikipedia has the concert being on both the 15th AND the 16th IN THE SAME ARTICLE!) Either way this was just a month before the plane crash in Leesburg, before the Orlando show, that was Randy’s last ride.
This is also the tour where a fan threw a bat on stage January 20th in Des Moines and Ozzy, thinking it was fake, bit its head off. And the night AFTER this video was filmed (whatever night that was), is the night Sharon hid Ozzy’s clothes, so he stole one of her dresses and went out drinking in San Antonio where he subsequently peed on the Alamo. What a wild tour that must have been!
