Nothing like waking up with a cup of coffee, some soft piano music… and James Hetfield talking about workforce development. Metallica was on CBS Sunday Morning this week.
The segment spotlighted the band’s charity, All Within My Hands, and if you didn’t know Metallica had a foundation that basically operates like a blue-collar superhero squad, now you do.
One of the highlights: a “Metallica Scholar” who used their grant to go to trade school. She didn’t even realize Metallica was paying for it — she just thought it was a regular scholarship. Imagine finding out your new career got kickstarted by the same guys who wrote “Master of Puppets.”
Over 9,000 people have gotten that same push. That’s not just throwing money around — that’s real-life change.
They’ve also helped with disaster relief, hunger programs, and all kinds of community support. Basically, while the rest of us are arguing online, Metallica is out here fixing the country with power chords and good intentions.
Bassist Robert Trujillo said it best: “We gotta help blue-collar America.”
All Within My Hands is a non-profit, philanthropic organization created in 2017 by the members and management of Metallica, dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.
