Deputy Michael Magli Laid To Rest Today

Last Wednesday, February 17 - Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Magli was killed by Robert Allen Holzaepfel, a drunk driver who has 16 felony convictions, was driving on a suspended license and was on probation. His blood alcohol level was .230, nearly 3 times the legal level.

Today, Tuesday February 23 – A public funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz. Doors open at 10 a.m., parking and seating is very limited, and masks are required. An outdoor ceremony that includes a 21-gun salute, last call and a fly-over will take place after the service.

If you’d like to pay your respects - The public can view the funeral procession to the burial site by lining up along State Road 54 between the Suncoast Parkway and Community Drive. The public is asked to be in place before 12:30 p.m.

The burial service at Trinity Memorial Gardens is not open to the public.

Deputy Magli had served with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office since 2013 and is survived by a wife and two young children.
