Up In Pensacola The Blue Angels Took One Last Flight In Their F-18’s

The Blue Angels took to the skies over Florida for one last run in these iconic planes.

I didn’t know until I moved here that the Blue Angels are stationed in Pensacola, and practice out of there too. I had planned to go see them practice, but they have closed those to the public because of the pandemic. The museum and many of the attractions are still open though. The museum boasts 150 aircraft, and the flight simulators and giant screen theater are operating. The chance to see them fly would have been epic. But now they won’t fly the F-18 “Legacy” Hornet planes ever again. They had flown some variation of that model for 34 years.

Here is their last flight in the now super iconic planes. This flight was yesterday, November 4th, 2020.

The Blue Angels aren’t done, of course. They’re just transitioning to a newer model plane. They will soon be breaking in the newest F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. What’s the difference between the two? I have no idea. I just know they’re awesomely fast and I can’t wait to see them in person someday.

Here’s a cool gallery of them in action across America.
