Long Before Chris Evans, There Was A ‘Captain America’ Movie From The 90′s That Was Just Awful

I graduated high school in ‘92 so I should remember this movie but for the life of me, I don’t. This was one of the first attempts at someone making movies about the Marvel super heroes. Of course Captain America, being the first Avenger, was the first choice in the 90′s too. But this movie is so bad that even though it was released in the UK in 1990, it wasn’t released here until 1992, and I don’t think it was in theaters long. I don’t even remember seeing it at Blockbuster video, like, ever.

This is 100% 90′s cheesy makeup effects, special effects, and bad acting to boot. Thankfully this wasn’t around long enough to destroy what would become the legacy of the MCU. But its always fun for a laugh to look back and see how bad things were, even if we thought it was ‘good for its time’.

Interesting side note: Cap is played by Matt Salinger, the son of world famous author J.D. Salinger who wrote The Catcher In The Rye which is, in my opinion, one of the worst books ever written that for some reason literature scholars love. I thought it was crap.
