Unfortunately this story doesn’t involve the Silence Of The Lambs movie, but thankfully it also doesn’t involve the other movies in the series which were nowhere near as awesome as the original. But David Bowie was repeatedly offered the role of Hannibal Lecter’s uncle, Count Robert Lecter, for the 2013 TV series Hannibal. In the books the uncle plays a fairly small role, but showrunner for the series, Bryan Fuller, said he wanted to make the part much bigger if Bowie had accepted the role. Fuller states that he offered the role to Bowie many times and the answer always came back as a no due to Bowie wanting to write more music, but please ask again in a few months when David’s schedule might clear up. Unfortunately that never happened and Bowie passed away in 2016. Fuller says now that in retrospect it seems David was sick during some of that time which is possibly a big reason why he continued to turn the role down.
We all know Bowie can act as he proved in Labyrinth, The Last Temptation Of Christ, and of course Spongebob Squarepants. And while I’ve never watched the TV show Hannibal, I can guarantee I would have at least checked it out if David Bowie was in it. Go more in depth at this link.
