It was on this date, August 28th, 1968, that Tommy James and The Shondells returned to the UK No.1 position with the single ‘Mony Mony’. That’s not the “what are the odds” part.

What are the odds, that 19 years later when Billy Idol’s version hit the top of the charts, it would displace another Tommy James song already sitting at the top of the Billboard Hot 100? Tiffany’s cover of the 1967 hit ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ spent two weeks at #1 in the summer of 1987.
