Toddler shot, killed in Washington, DC; $60K reward offered in search for suspect

WASHINGTON — Authorities in Washington, D.C., are offering as much as $60,000 in reward money as they search for suspects in the shooting death of a toddler.

According to WTTG and WJLA, 15-month-old Carmelo Duncan was inside a vehicle on Southern Avenue shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when gunfire erupted, striking the boy multiple times. Emergency responders rushed the toddler to a nearby hospital, where he died, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release.

“MPD is committed to bringing justice to his family and need your help in identifying those responsible,” the department, which has not announced any arrests in connection with the case, wrote in a tweet.

Investigators are searching for a dark SUV seen speeding in the area, WTTG and WJLA reported.
