WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was discharged Friday from a New York hospital after undergoing a nonsurgical medical procedure this week, according to multiple reports.

In a statement obtained by ABC News, a spokeswoman for the Supreme Court said Ginsburg was “home and doing well.”

On Wednesday, the 87-year-old justice underwent a procedure to "revise a bile duct stent" that had been placed in August 2019 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg said.

“According to (Ginsburg’s) doctors, stent revisions are common occurrences and the procedure, performed using endoscopy and medical imaging guidance, was done to minimize the risk of future infection,” Arberg said.

Ginsburg was briefly hospitalized earlier this year after receiving nonsurgical treatment for acute cholecystitis, a benign gallbladder condition.

Earlier this month, the liberal justice announced that she’s been undergoing chemotherapy since May to treat a recurrence of cancer after doctors found lesions on her liver. She said that her most recent scan July 7 showed a “significant reduction of the liver lesions and no new disease” and that she had no plans to retire from the Supreme Court.

“I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam,” she said in a statement July 17. “I remain fully able to do that.”

Ginsburg was appointed to the Supreme Court in August 1993 by President Bill Clinton, filling the seat held by Byron “Whizzer” White. She was the second woman appointed to the Supreme Court.
