Dr. Kevin O’Connor wrote that Biden, 79, will continue to remain isolated until he tests negative for a second time.

“The President continues to feel very well,” O’Connor wrote. “Given his rebound positivity, which we reported last Saturday, we have continued daily monitoring.”

Biden originally tested positive for COVID-19 on July 21. He also tested positive on back-to-back days last weekend.

Biden continues to recover from a “rebound” case that is tied to the use of Paxlovid, an antiviral medication, USA Today reported.

Paxlovid is a standard course of treatment for people who are considered to be at higher risk of adverse effects of COVID-19, including anyone over 50.

Biden is fully vaccinated and has received two booster shots.

Paxlovid manufacturer Pfizer and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration have both acknowledged reports of rebound COVID-19 cases associated with the drug, NPR reported. Research into the extent and severity of the problem continues, the website reported.
