In a news release, Cincinnati Police Department said Friday around 5:30 a.m. four officers and Cincinnati Fire Department personnel were called out to a house on the 3600 block of Canyon Drive in Avondale for an unknown trouble call. When they arrived at the house, three people were found unresponsive with gunshot wounds.

The three people were identified by authorities as Darlene Flores, 38; Eric Johnson Jr., 19; and Rodrigo Johnson, 16.

Cincinnati Police Department and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said they are investigating the incident as a “double homicide with a suicide.”

Investigators didn’t specify who they thought or believed shot the other two people, according to WCPO.

A woman witness told WCPO that her daughter lived in the house with her two sons.

The three people that died are believed to be connected with a murder-suicide in 2022 of Eric Johnson Sr., 40, and Lyla Johnson, 6, according to WXIX. Last August, Mt. Healthy Police Department reportedly said that Eric would not let his daughter go during a custody exchange where he ended up barricading himself inside his apartment. Eric reportedly shot multiple shots at officers but when SWAT made their way inside the apartment, they found both Eric and Lyla dead.

No further information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cincinnati Police Department at 513-352-3542.
