Officials: 2 people arrested after 45 malnourished cows, goats and pigs found at Florida farm

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two people have been arrested Thursday after 45 malnourished animals including cows, goats and pigs were found on a Florida farm.

According to WFTV, farm owner, Sherine Wright, and a caretaker, Oddleton Gittens, were arrested Thursday by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Wayne Ivy in a Facebook video posted on Thursday that BCSO received a call from a concerned citizen about a woman who was not taking care of her animals.

BCSO discovered a total of 45 animals that were removed from the farm. The animals were malnourished and some had parasites. According to WFTV, there were about 23 cows, 19 goats, multiple pigs, some chickens, two sheep and a donkey.

According to WFTV, Wright has been charged with 91 counts of animal cruelty and one count of witness tampering. Gittens is facing 12 counts of animal cruelty.

Veterinarians are helping to care for the animals, according to WFTV.
