Indiana stabbing: 2 killed, 2 in critical condition

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Two people were killed and two others suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing in northern Indiana, authorities said.

According to WANE and WPTA, the incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Whitelock Street in Huntington. Officers responded to a reported stabbing and arrived to find four victims in need of “immediate medical care,” the Huntington City Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Update 11:55 p.m. EDT June 24: Police on Friday identified two people who died after being stabbed at a home in Indiana.

Authorities said they found 31-year-old Danny England dead after police were called to a home in the 600 block of Whitelock Street. Katelyn (Huddleston) England, 27, later died of her wounds, officials said.

Two other people stabbed Thursday remained in critical condition on Friday.

Authorities have charged James Lee Boenwits, 27, with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in the stabbing. He was being held without bond Friday at the Huntington County Jail.

Authorities continue to investigate.

Update 3:39 p.m. EDT June 24: James Lee Bonewits was taken into custody late Friday morning, WANE reported.

A second person has died from the stabbing.

No motive, nor have the names of the victims have been released.

Original report: One of the victims died at the scene, while the others were hospitalized with life-threatening wounds, police said.

Police are now searching for James Lee Bonewits, a “person of interest” in the case, according to the Facebook post. Investigators described Bonewits as a 6-foot-3, 250-pound man with blue eyes, brown hair and a beard. He may be driving a silver 2006 Chevrolet Impala with Illinois tag DH22225 and “should be considered armed and dangerous,” the post said.

No further details about the victims’ identities or a possible motive were immediately available, according to the news outlets.
