A Daleville, Indiana, man was charged with murder Monday in the slaying of his grandfather.
Trent David Kreegar, 26, is accused of striking 67-year-old Robert Huffman Jr. in the head with a wheelbarrow, as well as choking him, during a Sept. 5 altercation at a South Walnut Street home, The Star Press reported.
Responding officers found the suspect attempting to resuscitate his grandfather, but court documents indicate that the fatal altercation occurred hours before authorities were contacted.
According to court documents, Kreegar admitted to both hitting his grandfather with the yard equipment and choking him. The grandson then took a shower and waited until the next morning to contact police, WXIN reported.
Kreegar is also charged with aggravated battery, The Star Press reported.
