In a series of Twitter posts published late Wednesday, Batavia High School wrestling coach Scott Bayer remembered Arlis as a “talented artist with a sharp wit, a sardonic sense of humor and palpable authenticity,” WLS-TV reported.

“His legacies as a fierce competitor, tireless worker, a caring influence to younger Batavia wrestlers, a devoted friend and a loving son and brother will resonate far beyond his days in our presence,” Bayer wrote.

Officials with the University of Illinois’ wrestling team also shared remembrances of Arlis. He attended the university and also wrestled there.

Arlis’ sister, Taylor Lulek, also confirmed her brother’s death in a post on Facebook, according to WLS.

“It is with great sadness (I) tell you that my family has lost my best friend and older brother Clint on the morning of January 11th,” she wrote, according to the news station.

Arlis appeared on the 11th season of “The Bachelorette” in 2015, in which bachelors competed for the affections of Kaitlyn Bristowe, WGN-TV reported. In a message posted on Instagram, Bristowe said she was “not sure what happened, how it happened,” according to WGN.

“All I want to say is that from knowing him on the show, even though things didn’t end on the best terms for us, from his time on the show ‘til today, I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about that person,” Bristowe wrote. “From his peers, his students, his coaches, his teachers, his friends his family, Clint was very well respected in his world, and it is an absolute tragedy of what’s happened.”

Arlis’ cause of death had not been shared as of Friday night.
