Just last Sunday, November 15th, 2020, YouTube personality WhistlinDiesel drove his monster truck into Sarasota Bay, and later into the Gulf of Mexico. In an 8 wheeled monster truck named “Monstermax”, Cody Detwiler drove down a public boat ramp into Sarasota Bay, under the bridge at Longboat Pass, and out into the Gulf of Mexico for a viral video that has over 4 million views so far.
This isn’t the first time a monster truck has driven on the water, or even on 8 wheels. In fact it has happened a bunch of times as far back as the early 80′s or early 70′s, when monster trucks were basically just Bigfoot.
But this is the first time I know of that it happened in our neck of the woods. And it almost didn’t happen. In Florida trucks, and I’m assuming most non-boat vehicles, can’t drive into the ocean (not a lawyer, don’t quote me on the law here). Thankfully this truck is registered as a boat in Indiana. And I guess that means it counts as a boat here too?
Anyways check out this video making our part of Florida look like fun. Or redneck hell, whichever way you want to look at it I guess.
And around the 9 minute mark he puts it on cruise control and hops on the roof which is what I would have done too, to be honest lol.
