There Are Some Really Weird Art Pieces At The Ringling Museum Part 3, the Naked Ones

I am in no way an art expert. I like art, its cool and interesting to look at. But I also like statues, and thankfully for a guy like me, most ancient statues were of naked people, and naked statues can be funny too.

I recently took a day trip to Sarasota to check out the Ringling Museum from the man who brought the world the circus. So of course there are circus art pieces which are weird all on their own. But the main museum with hundreds of pieces of art and sculpture and relics dating back sometimes to 2000 BCE, has a lot to look at. And I found all the weird ones which you can see in this blog. And of course the circus oddities which I posted here.

For this round of art weirdness I also found many of the naked statues which you can see in this blog. Warning, if for some reason you didn’t understand the part about the nakedness, there will be sculptured naked “people” in this blog. But its art so its still safe for work, right? I’d ask you to click to prove you’re over 18 but we know those things don’t really work anyway, so here we go!

Up first is probably the first art you’ll see if you go to the museum. Its a naked guy guarding the gates to the property.

Then as you make your way into the enormous museum building, you’re met with this naked dude playing the cymbals for some reason. And let me just warn him that I used to play cymbals in marching band in high school, and if you’re not careful those things will pinch any part of skin that isn’t tucked away, so good luck homie.

In a room to the left there’s a naked lady just hanging around in the study, I think.

As you make your way to the courtyard, there are literally dozens of statues lining the roof line looking down on you, but the biggest statue of of Michelangelo’s “David”. Of course I only got a shot from the back side. But for a bonus, the moon was already out, so I call this photo “2 Moons”.

Not to be outdone by “2 Moons”, I was also able to grab a double bubble shot if you will, of 2 dudes butts.

Now out on the opposite side there’s a lady watching over the other side door. She’s a woman with wings, but no arms. (Or shirt). Also in the 1st pic I noticed she also has a hole in her chest but I have no idea why.

And finally, only because the museum was closing and I didn’t have time to ogle more statues, at the very back end of the main museum is a naked woman on a bull. I don’t think the bull minds, but she is tied to it for some reason. Anyway here’s that naked statue.

I hope you enjoyed these pics more than I did taking them. Now stop staring, you’re creeping the statue people out a little.
