At the very last second I got a call from a good friend at Ruth Eckerd Hall to see if I was available to interview Roger Daltrey, who is playing there tomorrow night, Saturday the 11th. Roger freaking Daltrey?!?! Hell yeah I can interview this rock legend!
So we set it up for 11:15 today. Somewhere in the dozen or so people that messages like these end up going through: managers, PR peeps, etc, Roger was told 12:15. So I was here ready to go, but had another work function that was happening at the same time. So when I didn’t get a call by 11:30 I thought maybe something went wonky. Then, while I was at the other function I get a text from Roger trying to reach me for the interview! Check out my text from him:
Since he has a private number it didn’t come up, and I also couldn’t text him back. But I went through my friend Katie at REH who went through his people and we made it happen!
Then when he called, and he mentions this at the beginning of our interview, he was using Skype since his hearing is so shot he can’t hear through cell phones well enough anymore. And at times the Skype would cut out and clip his audio. So while you listen you’ll hear that happen a few times. I had him call back twice throughout our interview to try to get the best quality audio for you and he was such a gracious man to do it without any reservation. We actually ended up talking for almost 30 minutes with all the starts and stops, and I’ve edited out most of the unintelligible parts. He is a great storyteller and super fun interview! I know you’ll enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed talking to him.
There are still seats available for his show including in some pretty prime spots. Grab your tickets here.
