When Slash and Axl Rose were much younger their best friend Marc Canter was always around with them and encouraging them and their music. At the time, however, no one had any idea that what was happening would end up as Guns ‘N’ Roses, or that they would become as ginormous as they are. Thankfully Marc was along for the whole ride from the beginning. And being an amateur photographer, he was also taking as many pictures as possible to document the ride. Marc is the one who wrote the Guns ‘N’ Roses biography, “Reckless Road: Guns N’ Roses And The Making Of Appetite For Destruction”.
So who better to launch a podcast about the earliest days of the band than him? So Marc is about to launch a really cool sounding podcast covering their very first gigs as a band. For those of you who don’t already know, Marc Canter is part of the Canter family who owned and ran Canter’s Deli, the famous Sunset Strip diner that’s been around for decades, and where so many bands have gone before or after gigs, and in fact many, many record deals have been made in their famous brown booths, including GNR’s record contract. So Marc has had a huge impact on the band, more so than anyone outside of the original 5 members in my opinion. In fact this link has the original picture of the band in the booth at Canter’s right around when they signed their contract that led to them being the biggest band in the world.
The podcast is set to launch fairly soon and according to Marc’s Twitter account, the first episode is already recorded and in final production.
