Phil Collins becomes lead singer of Genesis this month in 1975. Earlier in the summer of ’75, Peter Gabriel decided to leave Genesis. The band auditioned a few singers but with no luck. Since Phil Collins sang background vocals and knew all the songs, it was logical for him to take over as the lead singer. He had a reputation as a great drummer, but being out front was a scaring idea. With his background as a child actor, he quickly got comfortable behind the mic. In 1978, Genesis scored a hit with “Follow You Follow Me” recording as a trio for the first time. In 2010 Genesis was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
