Billy Idol has a new EP “The Roadside” out now.

The first single is the song “Bitter Taste”.

This is Idol’s first new music since his 2014 album “Kings & Queens Of The Underground”.

The song is dominated by acoustic guitar, bass and percussion.

Idol’s voice sounds deep and sort of ghostly sound to it.

I guess that’s appropriate being that Billy wrote the song about his motorcycle accident he had in 1990 that nearly took his life.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock Idol said of the track “It seemed quite logical and natural to write something about my motorcycle accident, Certainly, the motorcycle accident was the catharsis, the wake-up moment. A little bit of me got left on that roadside. But it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing in the end; it was a wake-up call. Maybe on that roadside I left behind the irreverent youthful Billy and opened the door for a more attentive father and a more sensitive musician.”

The title of the EP comes from a lyric in “Bitter Taste” and obviously the description Billy gave about the song.
