“Here I Go Again” topped the charts 33 years ago and gave us one of the most iconic videos ever!
If you’re like me, what you remember most about “Here I Go Again” is Tawny Kitaen in a white dress rolling around on some cool Jags! However, she was not the original choice. Claudia Schiffer, Guess Jeans model, was supposed to be the “Whitesnake woman". But, just before the video shoot, things fell apart. David Coverdale (Iead singer) was dating actress Tawny Kitaen and they were headed to dinner when he got the call that there was a problem He and Tawny stopped by to see Marty Callner, the video director, to talk. When Marty Callner saw Tawny Kitaen, he asked her to do the video and the rest is history. By the way, Claudia Schiffer did just fine with her career.
“Here I Go Again” was originally released in 1982 off of their “Saints & Sinners” album, but never got any traction on the charts. Whitesnake re-recorded the song and put it on their 1987 self titled album, “Whitesnake”. The amped up version and video took it to #1. This version is known as “Here I Go Again ’87”. 33 years ago, Whitesnake ruled radio, MTV and the Billboard charts.
