Circus McGurkis, The People's Fair, has been taking place since 1971. It is a project of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It was started by a dedicated group of peace activists during the Vietnam War and was coordinated for many years by Christine O'Brien. Quakers carry on their programs as an expression of their belief in the dignity and worth of each person and in the power of love and nonviolence to bring about change. We celebrate all of you who, with your creativity and activism, make our community a more beautiful, loving and just place to live.
