The public is invited to a free health fair on Thursday, November 7, from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m., at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, 4951 – 78th Ave., N., courtesy of the Pinellas Park Medical District.
Sponsored jointly by HCA Northside Hospital and WellCare Health Plans, the health fair features a cross-section of members of the Pinellas Park Medical District, including more than 40 information booths from such diverse participants as orthopaedic surgeons, chiropractors, primary care physicians, oncologists, hearing care specialists, imaging centers, and home health care providers, as well as banking centers, assisted living residences, fitness centers, medical researchers, alkaline water distributors, community health agencies, media, and medical schools.
Free health screenings will include hearing, vision, blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Presentations are scheduled every 30 minutes from 9:00 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. covering risk factors for conditions like breast cancer, stroke, and heart disease, as well as a wide range of general health issues. Walgreens will be on hand to offer affordable flu shots (free with insurance).
To assist anyone interested in the details of the Affordable Care Act, Health Exchange Navigators and licensed insurance agents will also participate.
Participation events are also scheduled, with a Zumba class at 9:00 a.m., and Silver Sneakers aerobics at 2:00 p.m.
“Our Medical District focuses attention on the diversity and quality of health care options in our community,” said Medical District chairwoman Lan Pratt.
“By sponsoring events like free health fairs throughout the year, we increase awareness of and access to the most advanced care, while encouraging people to get and stay healthy.”
