Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will celebrate it's 40th anniversary on Tuesday, August 27th in Tampa!
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Tuesday, August 27th from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a special ceremony. The ceremony will recognize the department's four decades of service and dedication to public safety through education and emergency planning initiatives. It is free, and open to the public.
HCFR had its humble beginnings in the 1950s as an all-volunteer force. The department hired its first full-time career firefighters in 1973, and has steadily evolved in one of the largest, most progressive departments in the state of Florida. This growth now includes:
In addition to the special anniversary, HCFR will host a pair of open houses on Saturday, August 24th featuring displays, fire safety education and activities for children.
