Bonnie Raitt has become an institution in American music, and is coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Tuesday, December 3rd!
More than just a best-selling artist, respected guitarist, expressive singer, and accomplished songwriter, Bonnie Raitt has become an institution in American music. Bonnie started anew with the release of her nineteenth album, Slipstream. The album marked her return after seven years to studio recording and the launch of her label, Redwing Records. A huge success, Slipstream sold more than a quarter-million copies in 2012, making it one of the top selling independent albums, and earned Raitt her 10th GRAMMY® Award (Best Americana Album). From The New York Times to People magazine, Slipstream was also lauded in numerous top critics' lists as album of the year.
Raitt sold out more than half of her 80-date North American concert tour, made several national TV appearances (Ellen, Leno, Letterman, GMA, Fallon and more), performed at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance from the Americana Music Association. Slipstream delivers some of the most surprising and rewarding music of Raitt's remarkable career, thanks in part to some experimental sessions with celebrated producer Joe Henry.
Special Guest Paul Brady will open the show. A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Paul is one of Ireland's most enduringly popular artists. He has found fame as a member of The Johnstons, then Planxty, and throughout his solo career. Over the years, Brady has collaborated with hundreds of artists including Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Mary Chapin Carpenter and, of course, Bonnie Raitt. Paul continues to push out the boundaries not only of his own talent but of Irish contemporary music as well.
