In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association presents world renowned pianist, Shelly Berg at The Palladium Theater’s Side Door. The All Music Guide says, "Shelly Berg is one of the finest pianists around in the early 21st century playing modern mainstream jazz." He will perform both solo and with a trio, including local bassist & drummer; Alejandro Arenas & Mark Feinman. Tickets will be sold online at www.MyPalladium.org and available day of. Shelly Berg has performed, recorded and arranged with a "Who's Who" of jazz legends including; Ray Brown, Nancy Wilson, Bobby McFerrin, Arturo Sandoval, Clark Terry, Woody Herman, Patti Austin, Kurt Elling, Dionne Warwick and Tierney Sutton to name a few. Dave Brubeck raves, "Shelly Berg is a great jazz pianist who has a total command of his instrument."
A Steinway piano artist, Shelly Berg is the Dean of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and a past president of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE). He has appeared as a performer and lecturer throughout the United States as well as in Canada, China, Mexico, Europe, Israel, Japan, Romania and Venezuela.
The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association provides jazz opportunities for enthusiasts throughout the Tampa Bay area. The primary focus of the association is to encourage and promote the understanding & appreciation of jazz, its origins & evolution and presenting live performances in the Tampa Bay area. The association is also very active in education and provides scholarships to students who plan to further their jazz studies.
