Mayor Bob Buckhorn will host the second annual Mayor’s River O’Green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park!
The City of Tampa Water Department in partnership with Grow Financial will dye the Hillsborough River kelly green between Cass Street Bridge and Kennedy Bridge. The dye, manufactured by Bright Dyes, is potable water grade, non-toxic, and biodegradable; it’s used primarily to trace leaks and in search and rescue efforts in large bodies of water.
In addition to a vibrant, bright green Hillsborough River, entertainment, food trucks and activities will all be on hand. The event, as well as its entertainment and activities, are free and open to the public; however, that does not include vendor items.
This year, any attendee who brings three non-perishable food items will receive a green "Saint Patrick's Army" shirt provided by the Salvation Army. All donations will benefit the Salvation Army to provide support for those in need.
The Tampa Downtown Partnership will sell alcohol, including Guinness and Cigar City supplied by JJ Taylor Distribution, and proceeds from all alcohol sales will benefit Realm, the Downtown Partnership’s nonprofit, to program downtown parks.
A complete list of confirmed vendors and entertainment is available at www.tampagov.net/RiverOGreen and below.
