Topic: How to Give Effective Feedback One of the most important steps in the development of prose or poetry, whether the end goal is publication or self-fulfillment, is feedback. To be asked by a fellow writer to look over a piece and provide that feedback is an honor that should be taken seriously. This critical step, if handled correctly, can produce a work in which the author can take pride and satisfaction. Larry Kokko will present how to give and receive an effective critique. We will look at proper critique etiquette. We will examine the various parts of a story and look at some common mistakes. Finally, Larry will present suggestions for, and the most effective way to phrase your comments. Along with the comments, he will briefly touch on Microsoft Word tools available when providing feedback. Larry Kokko is the author of several published dark fiction short stories and holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from National University.
