A Free New Year’s Party with Fireworks
Blast Friday is Downtown Clearwater’s Free Monthly Street Festival
Bright House Networks presents Clearwater’s Blast Friday in the Cleveland Street District featuring a New Year’s Party with a performance by Molly Hatchet on the Tampa Bay Times Cleveland Street Stage directly in front of the Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater on Friday, December 28. This FREE street festival will feature a variety of vendors as well as food, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. The street fair begins at 5:30 pm with entertainment outside until 10 pm. Blast Friday is produced by Ruth Eckerd Hall On The Road.
Founded more than 35 years ago by Dave Hlubek, Molly Hatchet hails from Jacksonville, Florida and is widely known for their hit song Flirtin' with Disaster from the album of the same title. Sharing influences and inspiration with bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special, Molly Hatchet has established themselves as a favorite in the Southern rock genre. As of 2012, Molly Hatchet still performs worldwide and has built a large fan base in the United States, Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Belgium, Sweden and other markets in the Pacific Rim and Australia.
Ruth Eckerd Hall was named the #1 theater in the world for venues with 2,500 seats or fewer for the decade (2000-2009) by Billboard, based on number of shows, tickets sold and gross ticket sales. Each year, Ruth Eckerd Hall is consistently ranked as a top-five venue in the world with 2,500 seats or fewer by various industry trade publications including Billboard, Pollstar and Venues Today.Ruth Eckerd Hall On The Road has been booking and producing concerts and festivals such as the Tampa Bay Rays Summer Concert Series, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Friends of Music, and corporate events in Florida and across the country for more than ten years, entertaining more than 1.5 million fans of music.
Blast Friday was established in 2009 as downtown Clearwater’s free, family-friendly street festival. Supported by the City of Clearwater, the Cleveland Street District and the Downtown Development Board and produced by Ruth Eckerd Hall On The Road, Blast Friday hosts 10 events per year bringing more than 40,000 people to downtown Clearwater.
