Talk to anyone who has seen the Palladium’s annual production of Black Nativity and the conversation will quickly go to Sharon Scott. The powerhouse singer and actor plays the narrator and manages to stop the show more than once. But if you ask Sharon Scott about the show, you get a whole different take on Langston Hughes’ retelling of the Nativity story. "For me it’s about working with these kids who are so good and so talented." The cast features young aspiring performers mixed with adult professionals, a diverse mix of age, race, and gender. "It is a show where everybody is welcome at the table," says Scott. The show is a a celebration that tells the original story of the Nativity in scripture, verse, music and dance based on the Gospel of St. Luke, combined with the poetry of Langston Hughes. The performance and Scott touch a special chord in the hearts of all every holiday.
