Food, a live and a silent auction and music will highlight the rich history of Ybor City while raising funds for the Boy Scouts of America and its Learning for Life Program.

'A Taste of Ybor' will happen on Nov. 9, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Cuban Club and feature food from outstanding local restaurants and beverages from local distributors. A cigar roller will make cigars by hand on site for guests. The David Perri & Friends band will perform high-energy music for dancing.

The event's live and silent auctions includes fishing trips, two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines, dinner gift certificates, theme baskets for tourist attractions, golf packages and more. Tony Morejon, Hillsborough County Hispanic Liaison, will be the emcee and auctioneer.

The party is expected to draw more than 300 guests to support youth programs of the Gulf Ridge Council, which serves more than 26,000 youth in eight counties of West Central Florida. 

It also will support the BSA Learning for Life Program, which offers character education, leadership and career development aligned with state and national standards to help enable all students to achieve their full potential.  The program is offered in 20 schools in Hillsborough County.

South Tampa resident Sung Lee Hochhausler is chairwoman of a volunteer committee organizing the fundraiser.

Tickets are $40 a person or $70 a couple. Tables also are available. Dress is business casual or Florida cocktail attire.
